Dr. Nicolas Dermota
Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist
I am a nationally licensed Clinical Psychologist (Austrian Ministry of Health) in Vienna, Austria and registered Psychotherapist (Japanese Federation for Psychotherapy, European Association for Psychotherapy) in Japan and Europe. Before relocating to Japan I have practised in various Institutions in Austria as well as in Brazil.
For the past fifteen years, I have been working mainly with the international expat community and Japanese local clients in Tokyo.
My approach as a counselor and psychotherapist is integrative. In detail that means that my work is supported by Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and Schematherapy techniques, combined with a client-centered orientation.
Frequently, encountered diagnoses are anxiety, depression, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and drug as well as alcohol abuse. I am also well experienced in helping people with general stress and anger issues.

Dr. Robert Leonhardt
Internal Specialist, Psychotherapist
I am a licensed medical doctor, specialist in internal medicine, and certified Psychotherapist registered in Germany, Europe. For most of my career, I have been practicing in various institutions in Germany, amongst them the Bundeswehr (German military) and the DRV (pension insurance), towards the final stages also as a medical director. My psychotherapeutic education was facilitated at the Bundeswehr Hospital in Berlin, where I was working in the department of psychotraumatology.
Two years ago I relocated to Japan, where I am aiming to continuously support the local Expat community with their day-to-day struggles. Often encountered diagnoses are anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, and general stress reactions. Besides individuals, I also assist couples and families in English, German and Japanese.
As a Psychotherapist I work with an depth psychological approach. This means that my focus lies on what is happening psychodynamically. The subconscious problems and struggles of a client are supposed to be resolved whilst the therapeutic relationship should create a safe place in which such a change can be facilitated. Due to my medical background, I also like to apply an integral view. Body and mind are to be seen as a unit. As such I want to support my clients whenever possible holistically.
